LA Go Green Expo

It was our pleasure to meet thousands of our eco-conscious friends during the three day event at the L.A. Go Green Expo held at the L.A. Convention Center.  We were there to promote our newly branded reusable GoGreen Oil Filters.  The turn out was incredible, and the enthusiasm of the attendees was simply overwhelming.

Not only were we there to promote our product, more importantly we took special care to teach everyone we spoke to about the hazards of used motor oil filters and the negative impact they have on our environment.

Atlanta World of Wheels

We would like to announce that we will be attending the Atlanta World of Wheels Friday January 29-31, 2010.  You are invited to come over and see us at booth number Q-33.  We will have a full display for you to inspect.  Come take a look why we are so excited here at GoGreen!

LANDFILLS LITTERED WITH OIL SATURATED FILTERS

Over 2 million gallons of waste oil per year contaminate California landfills

A 2005 Public Research Institute study conducted for the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) found that the oil remaining in automotive oil filters averages 10.57 ounces per filter.  This equates to roughly 2.18 million gallons of waste oil being properly and improperly disposed of by do-it-yourself oil changers each year in the state.  Only one gallon of used oil can contaminate up to one million gallons of fresh water.  The creators of GoGreen Oil Filters have eliminated the need to discard your used oil filters.  According to GoGreenOilFilter.com President Paul Rogowski, there is no reasonable explanation why Americans are still using non-reusable oil filters.  In today’s age with all of our technological advances, we are still a throw-away society.

America’s landfills continue to be filled with contaminated used oil filters.  Four hundred fifty million oil filters are manufactured and sold in the USA each year.  A recent University of Iowa report conducted for the Iowa Civic Analysis Network (I-CAN) states that in the U.S., more than half of the 450 million filters sold annually are not properly disposed of.  An incredible 90% of do-it-yourselfers don’t bother to properly recycle their used oil filters.  These filters and their trapped oil invariably end up in landfills.  Even for those lucky enough to have a town that recycles used oil filters, most municipalities make disposal too cumbersome. This used oil oil contains substances that contaminate both soil and ground water, causing health problems in humans and animals.  These substances include trace metals, chlorinated solvents, gasoline, poly-nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, glycols, and PCBs.

Until 1993, the EPA classified all used oil filters as a hazardous waste.  A few states still consider them to be hazardous.  EPA standards require all used oil filters be properly disposed.  This includes a method of draining trapped oil out of used filters called hot-draining. Hot-draining a used oil filter is accomplished by punching holes in the filter while the oil is above 60°F and gravity-drained for a minimum of 12 hours. Those eco-conscious drivers, using the EPA prescribed method of hot draining the oil filters, unknowingly contribute to this awful contamination problem.  A hot-drained oil filter still contains up to 11 ounces of oil that has been absorbed into the filter element.  After only 10 properly hot-drained oil filters get to the landfill, the remaining oil contaminates 120,000 gallons of water.

GoGreen oil filters are reusable and will not add to our waste in landfills, benefiting both the environment and your engine.  The earth-friendly GoGreen oil filter reclaims 100% of the oil in the filter, allowing you to recycle all waste oil.  Additionally, you reuse the filter after cleaning; zero waste zero impact.
